About the debate
In the spirit of democracy, What’s on your mind? is about inviting everyday Australians to have a say on the issues that affect us all. The chosen topic will be discussed in a national public forum at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, within the intimate House of Representatives Chamber.
The topics were chosen by engaging with Australian opinion leaders, personalities and the media, and by conducting consumer research. This research uncovered seven issues that are on the minds of everyday Australians. However, as the title of this debate implies, you’re encouraged to suggest social or cultural issues that you feel should be discussed. All you have to do is use the tools of democracy—you can elect your leader and vote on issues you think should be discussed in a public forum. You are also invited to comment on these topics and make your voice heard.
One of these issues will be the topic of the debate. Which one will depend on your vote.
In March we’ll be announcing the personalities who you can elect to debate the topics, these will be leaders from a diverse range of fields. You can also suggest someone you’d like to see represent you.
Voting will close in April with the final topic and personalities announced once the votes are tallied.
