Person
Sue Ismiel
In 1974 aged just 15 and not able to speak any English, one of Australian’s most successful business women migrated from Syria to Australia with her family. By the early 90s Sue was married, had three young daughters, was working as a medical records officer in a private hospital and was concentrating on providing a loving and happy home for her family.
Determined to help middle daughter Natalie with her sensitive skin, but unable to find a suitable product which was gentle, natural and effective, Sue created her own hair removal product from ingredients found in her own kitchen and Nad’s was born.
The phenomenal success of this one product provided a platform for Sue and her daughters to develop a range of innovative depilatory and skincare products, and the company has since acquired a global reputation as the experts in hair removal. The brand is a success story and in 1998 Nad’s entered the United States market in what was the most successful product launch of its kind. Nad’s is also sold in the UK, Canada, New Zealand and Middle East. Sue Ismiel & Daughters is still a 100% Australian family—owned and run company.
Sue has been presented with numerous awards recognising her business success including; Winner, National Business Bulletins Business Star of the Year (2002), Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2002) and the Sydney Business Review Businesswoman of the Year (2002).
Today Sue Ismiel is CEO of Sue Ismiel & Daughters and is recognised as one of Australia’s most successful entrepreneurs and passionate philanthropists.
